To what extent can art and culture lead the way towards conflict prevention and peacemaking? How can societies deal with diverse historical experiences and differing perceptions of conflicts and values? And how are the arts reflecting violent events or are reacting to conflicts in different societies?

Throughout the years, the Goethe-Institut has been focusing on the theme, “Culture and Conflict“ through its work and through a wide range of cultural activities. With the program “Budaya & Konflik” which will take place from the 29th of September to the 6th of October 2013 in the Goethe-Institut Jakarta, it wishes to put a stronger focus on Indonesian conflicts and putting them in an international context.
