Ms Maria José Albuquerque Tavares, Portugal
Born: 27/11/1966 in Lisbon, Portugal

Maria José Tavares works as a curator at the Audio-Visual and Interactive Technology Services of Macao´s Scientific and Cultural Centre (CCCM) in Lisbon. Her current responsibilities lie in the production of exhibitions´ contents for the Macao Virtual Museum and in two ASEMUS projects for international exhibitions from Asia and Europe. In 2002, she graduated in Museology and Heritage, and is now working on a dissertation on alternative art spaces for contemporary art at the Universidade Nova, Lisbon. Due to the cooperation between Asia and Europe within the mission of CCCM and the main theme of her research on curatorial practices of alternative art spaces and projects in Asia and Europe, Maria José Tavares is particularly interested in curating practices of contemporary art in terms of local and global contexts.
