One of the world’s most acclaimed contemporary dance ensembles will be in Australia for the first time to present its work at the Melbourne International Arts Festival: Sasha Waltz & Guests.

Prior to this world class event, the Goethe-Institut Australien will show 3 works of Sasha Waltz & Guests on screen:

22.09.2009, 7.30pm
Allee der Kosmonauten (1996) Is a comic clockwork that expresses the failure of everyday communication of a family in its Eastern Berlin Apartment.

29.09.2009, 7.30pm
In Körper (2000), Sasha Waltz investigates the anatomy and the physical appearance of the human being, relating her dancers' bodies to architecture, science, and history.

6.10.2009, 7.30pm
noBody
(2002) is the opposite of »Körper« and asks about the metaphysical existence of humanity. It addresses the absence of the body and brings up questions about being mortal.

13.10.2009, 7.30pm (tbc)
Jochen Sandig,
Artistic Director of the Ensemble, has been invited to conclude the screenings in a seminar style Q&A.

Dancers, choreographers, producers and those interested in contemporary dance will have the chance to get a glimpse into the influential work of Sasha Waltz & Guests.

The screenings will follow a short introduction by arts writer and producer Sophie Travers.

Limited seats, RSVPs essential to arts1@melbourne.goethe.org or +61 3 98648922.
