K3 - Dance Centre | Tanzplan Hamburg

(Residencies Programme)

Tanzplan Hamburg’s aim is to encourage contemporary dance in Hamburg. It focuses on developing artists and publicizing their work, as well as on improving the rehearsal opportunities for people working in dance. At the same time, Tanzplan Hamburg aims to present contemporary dance as an innovative artistic practice and as a socially relevant culture.

Profile

To give contemporary dance in Hamburg a visible presence, the K3 Centre has been created on the Kampnagel theatre complex. As part of its funding programme for choreographers who are at the start of their professional lives, Tanzplan Hamburg will award three residencies every year. The applicants should already have completed their first projects. The residencies should be aimed at developing a production.

The scholarships include a rehearsal and performance budget, advice from an artistic mentor as well as from Tanzplan Hamburg in the areas of dramaturgy, organization, technology and outreach and publicity work. In addition, there is the opportunity to take part in a series of courses that range from the practical and performance-orientated to theoretical events, as well as to go to seminars and events in Hamburg University’s MA in Performance Studies, and in all further events put on by Tanzplan Hamburg.

The residencies last from April to December of each year. Applicants should already have carried out their first projects. Applications, including a project proposal, CV, materials documenting the applicant’s projects (video/DVD, photos, press/criticism) can be submitted from the autumn preceding the residency year.
