The Indian culture is one of the oldest on earth. The long tradition of Indian city- and fortress- building in the historical cities can still be very impressively experienced today. Some major buildings such as the Golconda Fort in Hyderabad are under the UNESCO protection. Many such historical sites have become ‘Pilgrimage-cities’ for architects and city planners from across the world.

The Institut für Städtebau Berlin is organising a study-trip for a number of senior architects from Germany to explore the changes in India’s metropolises. Along with their visits, expert talks and lectures are being hold.
One of these will take place at Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad. The aim is to study examples of the development in city planning and the tendencies in architecture, the maintenance of buildings, the construction of common infrastructure, and how to integrate these with environmental friendly solutions.
