Recent changes - habitat loss, poaching and other developmental activities – however, have rendered many species endangered and a few of them extinct. In this situation, the advent of modern biotechnology has revolutionized the field of conservation biology and has helped to recover many species from extinction threats.

About the Speaker:
Dr.G.Umapathy has more than 18 years of experience in wildlife biology and conservation in India. During the last 8 years he has been working in wildlife conservation using biotechnological tools.

He is one of the scientists involved in successful artificial insemination deer and antelope in India.
