In 2002, the United Nations have proclaimed the years 2005 to 2014 as a global “Decade of Education for Sustainable Development”. This international initiative wants to establish the principles of sustainable development in the national education systems on a world-wide scale. The international lead agency of the decade is the UNESCO.
