Prof Dr. Surendra Munshi a noted Indian sociologist, is Former Professor of Sociology, Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and currently Member, Programme Council, Forum 2000. He has taught and researched in India and abroad. His research interests include classical sociological theory and sociology of culture. Frequently invited to national and international conferences, he took part in October 2016 in the annual conference of Forum 2000 where he moderated the closing panel on 'The World and Its Current Challenges' in which, among others, the Dalai Lama took part. He has interest in poetry. One of his haiku compositions was selected by the editor of World Haiku Review for special mention as editor's choice (WHR, August 2011).
