Learning German: German Courses & Examinations

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and MMB, Pune.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) consists of 981 central government schools in India.

KVS introduced German as an optional subject in the year 2011 in 200 schools in the 6th – 8th standards. Last year, 7 schools in Pune started teaching German and 5 more schools have started this year i.e. 2012. To add to that, there are now 4 schools in Goa and 3 in Indore, who have introduced the language.

We are now done with interviewing for German teachers. And we were overjoyed, that so many talented teachers applied for the post and also to know that so many children are eager to learn German.

We are grateful to the KVS, as they have attracted a lot of potential German language teachers. We would like to provide a week long teacher’s training for the KV teachers in June.

We are also going to offer GRIPS theater projects in Hindi, Marathi and English to retain an interest in language among the children. Throughout the year, there will be a lot of competitions pertaining to the language, Sports and Art for the children.
