Fujo Makelele, one of the founding members of Mombasa’s first Hip Hop group Ukoo Flani, has just completed his debut album Hip Hop Revolution.
Starting back in 1994, he developed his talent as a rapper over the years while working in different projects and with various artists. The song Burn Dem, for example, earned Ukoo Flani the title of Best Hip Hop Group in East Africa in 2005 and 2006. Together with Nazizi, the most famous female Hip Hop artists from Kenya, they released the song Hip Hop Halisi which was an immediate hit.
In 2009, Fujo Makelele started working on his solo album which took him to Dar es Salaam/Tanzania where he stayed at the TMK Halisi Camp and recorded with some of the best Tanzanian Hip Hop artists. In this regard, his album features artists like Juma Nature, BK and Bob Q of TMK Halisi, Daz Baba of Tanzaniano as well as several Kenyan artists.
