By public transport:

Bus: Buses connecting the Beirut-International Airport with the city center are sporadic and therefore not recommended.

Taxi: When taking a cab to the Goethe-Institut, just tell the driver to go to "Mathaf" (National Museum). The Goethe-Institut is located in the Berytech Building on Damascus Road, north of the Museum, opposite of the French Embassy and the Surete General. The ride will cost you about 15-20 US-Dollar.
