The three decades long war came to an end in 2009. Yet, issues of co-existence and reconciliation persist. This is evident from the prevailing tensions and conflicts between ethno-religious communities over contentious issues.
At an ideological level, the main division appears to be between liberal and ethno-nationalist perspectives. Can these ideological differences be narrowed? More importantly, what prevents the country from adopting policies and other interventions to promote ethnic harmony and national reconciliation?
