City Tours with Boris Sieverts
On the move in Warsaw with the artist from CologneThis artist from Cologne has since years been offering inhabitants of megalopolises (among others Cologne and Paris) alternative city tours, encouraging them to abandon the usual routes and to turn their attention to stretches covered routinely. A city tour made in the company of Sieverts reveals places to the observer that have hitherto remained hidden, dismissed as banal and not perceived as places of tourist interest. He addresses threshold areas, spheres which are “inchoate”, but also at the same time places, which develop quickly, and have not evolved perfectly or accidentally. Sieverts is interested in spaces not built upon, contrasting architectural objects abutting each other and the effect of city dwellers on their environs.
Photo Gallery: The other Warsaw The artist observes from the outside - he explores and analyses the development, the energy of a city, the movement patterns of its inhabitants, he discovers references to other European metropolises and based on this, narrates his own subjective story on certain places. Sieverts refutes our conviction of knowing our city.
An artistic production of the Goethe-Institute, Warsaw.
