BiographyOlga Chernysheva is one of the great figures in contemporary Russian art. In the words of Elena Selina, she is an artist for whom “the transformation of the everyday into the metaphorical is characteristic”, in particular “with a light touch of irony and with unequivocal delight”. After working in the most varied fields, from painting and drawing to photography, she recently turned her sights to video. As a rule, these works are committed to social issues and at the same time they are existentially precise. The former refers to the subject matter; the latter is expressed in the author’s concise, subjective tone.
