Biography

Viktor Marushchenko’s photo series, Dreamland Donbass, was created in 2002–2003. He was taking photos in the illegal mines of the Donets Basin (Donbass), an industrial region of eastern Ukraine that is the most densely populated part of the country. For decades, and to this very day, life in the Donets Basin has been dominated by large-scale heavy industry – particularly coal-mining.
