Chicken House Publishing Ltd was founded in 2000 on the initiative of Barry Cunningham, the “discoverer” of Harry Potter, and his colleague Rachel Hickmann. It specialises in literature for children and young adults and strives to promote emerging authors and illustrators. The publishing house rose to international fame by publishing works from German children´s book author Cornelia Funke. In 2005 Chicken House became part of the Scholastic publishing group.
