Sudan

Sudan 4th Edition

In 2017, Sudan’s edition of the Science Film Festival broke another record in terms of audience reach. Thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team, the festival, running from October 6 to December 15, reached new schools and new target groups in a large area of the Khartoum region and three major cities. The festival engaged more than 6,000 students and adults in joining the activities and be part of the festival. The topics and films were met with the children’s strong interest, they enjoyed different activities organized by the team and were inspired by every film. Children sang, played and competed with each other in a lively environment. The teachers who brought their classes, in turn, were very grateful themselves for the opportunity to learn.

Sudan

For the first time, the Science Film Festival in Sudan reached out to high schools as well. As a result, there were lively debates on the reasons for the existing difference between the differing levels of science understanding in local schools and on the most recent developments in international science. The university screenings left substantial impact on the motivation of students. The Goethe-Institut is thrilled about this new horizon and will remain a part of the festival in Sudan moving forward. The general public showed great interest and demonstrated that people from all backgrounds are open to new scientific insights. The Goethe-Institut Sudan is grateful to the main partner Al Faisal Cultural Center, as well as to the Ministry of Education, partner universities and all participating volunteers.
