Indonesia 8th Edition

In 2017, the Science Film Festival was for the 8th time organized by the Goethe-Institut Indonesia in cooperation with Siemens, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Jakarta, PASCH, Sahid Hotels & Resorts, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga, and Universitas Paramadina. A selection of 12 films from 5 countries was screened from October 24 to November 23 in 37 cities: Aceh, Ambon, Bandung, Banjar, Banyuwangi, Batam, Belitung Timur, Biak, Bogor, Ciamis, Cikarang, Demak, Jakarta, Jambi, Kupang, Makassar, Malaka, Malang, Manado, Manggarai Barat, Maumere, Medan, Pangandaran, Salatiga, Sidoarjo, Soe, Solo, Sorong, Sumedang, Surabaya, Tangerang, Tapanuli Tengah, Toba Samosir, Tomohon, Waibakul, Waingapu and Yogyakarta. The opening day was for the third time hosted by the Ministry of Education and Culture for the Republic of Indonesia.

Biak Numfor, Dinas Pendidikan Kampoeng Sinaoe Sidoarjo, Universitas Kristen Petra Surabaya, Youth Scientific Community of Indonesia (YSCI), Sekolah Unggul Del, Sekolah Kristen Calvin, Sekolah Terpadu Pahoa, Madania School, SMAN 1 Manado, Pesantren Al Falah Abu Lam U, SMKN 1 Banda Aceh, SMKN 2 Banda Aceh, SMA Santa Ursula BSD, SMA Santa Ursula Jakarta, SMA Dwiwarna, SMAN 1 Matauli Pandan, SMAN 1 Ambon, SMAN 5 Malang, SMA YPPK Agustinus Sorong and Saint Peter’s School, all experiences were guaranteed to be hands-on and delivered a true “learning-by-doing” event. Last but not least, in total the festival reached 82,849 visitors in 2017 - a record for Indonesia!
