India 1st Edition

In 2017, the Science Film Festival takes place for the first time in South Asia, which includes India and Sri Lanka. The theme of the festival this year is ‘Anthropocene - Welcome to the Human Age’. In India, with its population of 1.1 billion and the effect of human imprint on the environment, this theme is exceedingly relevant. Through selected topics such as urbanization, mobility, nature, evolution, food and human machine interaction - the Science Film Festival explores the past, present and future of humanity to evaluate whether human interference has led us towards a new geological era.

Through the Science Film Festival, Goethe-Institut India wants to encourage the discussion of these topics in schools, to engage the decision makers of the future. On 16 November, 2017 the opening ceremony will be held in New Delhi. Thereafter, the Festival will spread countrywide for one-month.
