Burkina Faso 3rd Edition
In Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou, the Goethe-Institut held its festival from October 16 to 20, 2017. With its partners, the International School of Ouagadougou, Lycée Philippe Zinda Kaboré, Lycée Mixte de Gounghin, Lycée Technique National, Collège de jeunes filles Belemtissé and L’Institut de recherche pour le développement, it reached 497 learners and members of the public which was an increase on last year’s festival. As an addition to hands-on activities, the institute also hosted debates and presentations by experts, which, according to audiences, nurtured a fruitful exchange around scientific storytelling and highlighted the importance of science and the potential of science films. Overall, the festival received positive feedback and the public seemed to genuinely appreciate this initiative and even provided their own suggestions for how to expand it and include more researchers and film schools in future editions.
