South Africa 1st Edition
South Africa will be debuting its festival between 19 October and 30 November in partnership with five science centres. The centres’ target audiences are children and young adults from disadvantaged communities and so the festival is proud to work together to provide a fun and educational experience of science to South Africans who have not experienced this before. In the country’s economic hub of Johannesburg, films will be screened at the SciBono Science Centre and the Soweto Science Centre in November. In the capital city of Pretoria, SciEnza Science Centre will host screenings at five schools from 16 – 20 December. The Christoph Science Centre and UNIZULU Science Centre, both in the rural area of Zululand in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal province, will host screenings for rural communities, often overlooked by outside initiatives because of their remote locations.
