Stanimir Genov

Stanimir Genov was born in 1982 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated in Painting under Professor. Boyadjiev from the National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria. He has won several awards among which are: Тhe St. Cyril and Methodius International Foundation Award, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2006; Nomination for the M-Tel Award for Contemporary Bulgarian Art, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2009; and Nomination for the Gaudenz B. Ruf Award, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2008 and 2011. Among his solo exhibitions are: Excuse Me, Pistolet Gallery, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2008; Major-Minor, Pistolet Gallery, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2010; and Clear!, The Fridge, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2011. His art works are part of the collection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. Genov has participated in a number of exhibitions and art initiatives in Bulgaria and abroad. For Genov, the perceptual processes are both objects and instruments of his works. As he is forced to resonate with the environment, this automatically turns into an object of interest. He explores situations or cyclically recurring stimulants that occupy the scope of perceptions and so hence, establish themselves as life-defining behavioral models. In turn, this desire comes to doubt the assessment of such stimulants by both isolating and highlighting them, with the aim of rethinking and discrediting them.
