Biography

The lawyer and author Fethiye Cetin was born in Maden in the province of Elazig in eastern Turkey. After studying law at Ankara University, she worked at the Istanbul Bar Association as a member of the Executive Council of the Human Rights Center and the spokeswoman of the Minority Rights Working Group. She also dealt with these issues in her journalistic writings. Her bestseller “Anneannem” was honored with the Prix Armenia in France in 2006 and has been translated into eight languages to date. Fethiye Cetin, who is currently the legal representative of the newspaper “Agos” and the family of the murdered Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, lives in Istanbul.
