Born in Istanbul in 1966, Müge Iplikci studied English language and literature at Istanbul University and Ohio State University. After graduating, she taught Turkish and English at various institutions in the U.S. and Turkey, including Istanbul Bilgi University. Iplikci’s literary breakthrough came with her short stories, which examine the role of women in Turkish society from a feminist perspective. To date, she has published five short story collections and three novels, and her works have been translated into many languages. In 1996, she won the Yasar Nabi Nayir Youth Literature Award. Müge Iplikci lives in Istanbul.
