Biography

Sebnem Isigüzel was born in the northwestern Turkish city of Yalova in 1973. She studied anthropology at the University of Istanbul and went on to work as a journalist for various private television stations for several years. In 1993, she published her first short story collection, “Hanene Ay Dogacak”, which won the Yunus Nadi Award for short stories. Her novel “Cöplük” was published in Germany under the title “Am Rand” in 2008, and that same year, she was a writer-in-residence in Frankfurt for the Turkish-German program “Yakin Bakis”. Sebnem Isigüzel lives with her family in Istanbul.
