Imagine the following situation: the doorbell rings, and outside your front door stands the love of your life. There’s only one little problem - the last time you saw her was 24 years ago, and you can barely remember her now. Apparently, back then you swore that you’d love her forever, and now she’s come to hold you to your promise. Is this a bizarre idea? 24 years ago you would certainly have thought differently. Roland Schimmelpfennig’s play brilliantly spans a range of styles, from a witty and laconic conversation piece to Greek tragedy and back to a modern detective thriller.

Roland Schimmelpfennig

Roland Schimmelpfennig was born in Göttingen in 1967. After working as a journalist in Istanbul, he studied theater directing in Munich and was subsequently employed at a number of theaters: the Kammerspiele in Munich, the Schaubühne in Berlin and the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. He lives in Berlin.
