Artists in Residence in New England

Florian Hecker

Visiting Artist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Fall 2011, where he will be working on the project Chimaerization (MIT Project).

Florian Hecker (born 1975) lives and works in Germany. In his sound installations, live performances, and publications, Hecker deals with specific compositional developments of post-war modernity, electroacoustic music, as well as other non-musical disciplines. He dramatizes space, time, and self-perception in his sonic works by isolating specific auditory events in their singularity, thus stretching the boundaries of their materialization.

Push & Pull at the Tate Modern, London (2011)
Instal, Tramways in Glasgow (2010) and Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin (2010)
