The German film series continues this fall and winter! It starts in September with The stranger in me. Rebecca and Julian are in their mid-thirties, in love and are expecting their first child. Once the baby has arrived though, Rebecca finds herself in an emotional nightmare. The child seems foreign to her, she feels helpless and lonely. In a gripping way this film deals with postnatal depression. On a lighter note, the October film Whiskey with Vodka is a comedy set in the world of filmmaking. The director, Andreas Dresen, will be present for the screening of his latest work. Henry Hübchen is Otto Kullberg, a film star who sometimes likes to drink a little too much. On the set of his new film, it seems like he is about to blow the whole thing, therefore a younger actor is hired to do all his scenes a second time as a backup. Whiskey with Vodka just opened in Germany to rave reviews. November is getting romantic. Lulu & Jimi are like Romeo and Juliet: caught in a love they cannot live openly. In a German village, the rich Lulu loves the poor and black Jimi, to the horror of her mother who will do anything to prevent their relationship. This brightly colored film is a modern fairy tale.
