Friends of Goethe

December 2011

Dear Friend of Goethe:

It is once again time for the Friends of Goethe annual fund drive. Our location on Michigan Avenue, in the landmark Smurfit-Stone Building, continues to enhance our ability to contribute to the cultural life of Chicago, but we still need your help. We have many exciting projects in store for the upcoming twelve-month period.

Your gift for the 2012-2013 annual fund drive will make a difference because we can
  • bring more German and European cultural events to Chicago
  • continue to collaborate with other European cultural organizations in Chicago
  • continue to hold exhibitions at the Goethe-Institut Chicago
  • improve our media profile by increasing outreach to news outlets in Chicago and Germany.

We are looking to you, our friends, to support the activities that make our organization unique. We want to increase the number of events and services available to you. Of course, this will require additional income. Therefore, we are asking you for your tax-deductable gift to our annual fund. This way we can keep membership dues at a low level.

By filling out the enclosed form and returning it to us, you can join or maintain your membership in the Friends of Goethe, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization which supports the work of the Goethe-Institut Chicago. The Friends of Goethe will use membership funds to facilitate special projects that are particularly important for the Chicago area –projects that would otherwise not be possible. In deciding to become a member of the Friends of Goethe, you are expressing your desire to maintain and build upon the international culture of Chicago and to foster a dialogue between Germany and America.

Thank you again for your loyalty and continuing support of the Friends of Goethe. Your contribution will strengthen the organization and enrich our community’s cultural life.

Sincerely,

Werner Ott
Director, Goethe-Institut Chicago
