Translation Program

At the Goethe-Institut Chicago, we greatly emphasize support and sponsorship for translators, as well as translations of texts from German to English. These are not business, legal, or technical documents, rather literary texts which are artistic examinations of the world in which we live and are fundamentally linked to language.

Different languages are spoken in different countries, and in some instances these languages create borders. Translation can transcend these borders, and in turn, the literature of two different cultures is much more accessible. The Goethe-Institut Chicago happily supports this indispensable process.
