Farewell to the Goethe Pop Ups in the U.S.

Pop Up Kansas City Good bye © Goethe-Institut

After four years of incredible work, the Goethe-Institut is sadly saying goodbye to its Pop Up locations in Houston, Kansas City, and Seattle. Originally founded as temporary project spaces during the Year of German-American Friendship in 2018, the Goethe Pop Ups continued well beyond the planned period due to their overwhelming success. These past few years would not have been possible without the host cities’ warmth and hospitality, the close collaboration with partners, and the great interest in local programming.

Thank you to the many partners and visitors who supported the Pop Ups during this eventful and moving time. A big thanks also goes to the colleagues on-site whose tireless commitment brought the Goethe-Institut’s mission to life in three new locations across the country.

The Goethe-Institut will continue its work promoting the German language and culture at its permanent locations in the U.S. Find out more about the Goethe-Institut’s offerings in Washington, DC, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston here.
