The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is a major Europe-wide language policy statement that aims at providing a basis for the mutual recognition of language qualifications across different countries, thus facilitating educational and occupational mobility.
It is increasingly used in the reform of national curricula in Europe and by international consortia for the comparison of language certificates.
On these pages, you will find information about the CEFR, the European Language Portfolio, and US-based initiatives concerning their applications to foreign language teaching in the United States and their implementation in various educational settings in this country.
