Standards are not the same thing as curriculum. While standards provide a clear and specific outline of the content and skills each student needs to learn, they do not dictate pedagogy or teaching styles, nor do they prescribe class lessons or assignments. These choices are often left to the district, the school, and ultimately, the teacher.
