Mad About Music - Young Rock in Germany

This year's contest focuses on German music bands and their road to success. The video introduces Madsen, Germany's most popular indie rock band, as well as 18-year-old Lennart, who is hoping for a similar success with his up-and-coming band Shot To Nothing.

Taught in school, played in the streets or offered at many festivals, young Germans love a variety of music styles. Hip-Hop, Pop and Rock rank as the most popular types of music. Following the international success of German bands such as The Scorpions, Rammstein and Tokio Hotel, a new band is rising on the international music scene: Madsen. Already very popular in Germany, Madsen is about to thrill American audiences during their U.S. tour in Fall 2011. Eighteen-year-old Lennart guides us through the documentary. He highlights different aspects of Germany's music industry and introduces us to Madsen, a band he looks up to as do many other Germans his age. What Madsen and up-and-coming bands like Lennart’s have in common is the fun they and their fans have. They share an interest that seems to be a universal one: music.
