This series of photographs is the result of a visit in Davao City on Mindanao in the Philippines, a mega city that the artist describes as a paradox: on one hand it is the second largest city of the Philippines and at the same time it is in large part still dominated by agriculture and a rather rural life. Krauss soon realized, that the tropics are ruled by a different rhythm and a different law. Fascinated by the presence of Philippine mythology in modern life, he began taking portraits and still lifes in black and white, which he colored with oil following his return.

His pictures from the Davao-project have been exhibited in Leipzig, Rome, Milan, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and Bari.
