A variety of organizations promoting the German language have joined forces for a unique educational experience. The Goethe-Institut, along with the German Consulate of San Francisco, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Center German Programs Abroad (ZfA), and the Ständige Arbeitsgruppe Deutsch als Fremdsprache (StADaF) will demonstrate to high school students in the Pacific Northwest how cool it is to learn German.

From October 6 -24, 2008, the German Bus, a renovated school bus, retrofitted with video projection and room for 40 students, will stop at select high schools with German programs in Oregon and Washington, offering an up-close look at the geography, history and culture of the country. Differing from the typical classroom fare, the German Bus will show that ‘German rocks’ through hip-hop workshops by Rapper Bates from Thüringen (music partner of Clueso). After the workshops, which focus on the creative use of German language, there will be live performances as well as an opportunity for students to chat with the musician.
