Learning German: German Courses & Examinations

Would you like to learn German, improve your German skills, or test your mastery of German?

The Goethe-Institut in Washington offers general language courses, an examination preparation course and special language courses which deal with a specific topic or address a specific need of a group of learners. We offer courses at all levels throughout the year in multi-media classrooms. Come by the Language Department Monday through Friday to find out which course is right for you.

All classes are conducted in German. Instruction follows the communicative approach. The Goethe-Institut offers progressively structured courses and presents them in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere. Native speakers trained in teaching German as a foreign language provide instruction on a professional level. Along with learning the German language, students learn about social and cultural developments in Germany.

We will offer nine-week standard courses as well as 3-week intensive courses (September) in 2013. Complete course descriptions / schedules are posted to this web page approximately eight weeks prior to the beginning of classes. All details are subject to change without notice.
