FRANKLIN
SCHOOL MODEL, 1876 |

Image:

A
model of the Franklin School was shown and won awards at a number
of international exhibitions in the 1870s. Here we see how the school
model looked in the "Department of Education" section of the
Government Building at the International Exhibition in Philadelphia,
1876. After its showing in Paris in 1878, the model was reportedly retained
at the request of the French government for the new Musée Pédagogique,
founded in 1878 by Jules Ferry.
