A world – A youth parliament
Youngsters become active in international politics. What at first sight seems an utopia will come true in Uruguay. From the 5th until the 11th of July 2010, 100 students from Latin America, Europe and Africa will get together at the Palacio Legislativo in Montevideo, in order to discuss the eight Millennium Development Goals.
The aim of the Youth International Parliament, which receives 80% of its funding from the European Union, is to make different cultures enter into dialogue, to raise awareness and to foster a lasting political education among youngsters. In every country there will be a preparatory stage when workshops and talks will take place. The website “Youth Parliament: Latin America – Europe – Africa” offers information on the project's schedule and provides further details of the participating schools from ten different countries.
