      über(W)unden – Art in Troubled Times: A Conference of Extremes

      (5 October 2011) Apartheid, genocide, civil war – many artists from sub-Saharan Africa have gone through traumatic experiences. Now, in Johannesburg representatives from a variety of fields gathered for one week and discussed their personal experiences and the question of how much their work is linked to these events.       Na ku randza

      In September 2011, the Goethe-Institut realized the project über(W)unden – art in troubled times, consisting of a 4 day-long conference and various artistic interventions throughout the city of Johannesburg. The aim of über(W)unden was to investigate in artistic approaches to social and individual trauma in Africa. Na Ku Randza was one of the interventions, organized by the Center for Historical Reenactments. It consisted of four parts, all staged close to the August House in central Johannesburg.

        Condition Report - Symposium   english

        Condition Report, an international symposium on building art institutions in Africa, will take place from 18-20 January 2012 in Dakar, Senegal. It is organized by the Raw Material Company in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut and the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
