In 2014 the „Spoken Word Project“ goes to Germany
„The Spoken Word Project“ in Germany
From May to December 2013, the „Spoken Word Project“ travelled to eight African countries. The stories and topics have been told, modified, passed on and readopted in all the participating countries. Both the stories and the people, who were touched by these stories, have changed. Contacts and friendships emerged, joint projects were planned and networks evolved. This project was able to connect artists and poets from very different countries, especially in countries that did not have a large and active spoken word scene before.
In 2014 the project enters its second phase. Three African artists will travel to Germany and bring their stories along. They will meet two German poets, who have been part of the project from the beginning on to take „The Spoken Word Project “together to Germany.

The five artists will work together on a text in a workshop. The topic will be chosen collectively and will be related to issues in Africa. The artists will perform at four different locations in Germany and will take the „The Spoken Word Project“ from Africa to Europe.
Linda Gabriel, who has been in charge of the project from its beginning on, will accompany the group. She will document the performances and the development of the „Spoken Word Project “in Germany.
