Conferences dealing with Orality & New Media

This section gives attention to the relationship between orality and modern information and communication technologies (ICT). It explores opportunities offered by multimedia and social media plattforms, for example, to collect orally transmitted knowledge in a participatory process, make it accessible in its original form or available for further use.

    ISOLA Conference 2012: “Orality, New Media, and the Postcolonial Experience”   english

    The 9th conference of the International Society for the Oral Literature of Africa (ISOLA) was held in June 2012 at the University of Venda in South Africa. The main focus was on the topic of “oral culture and new media”, particularly in view of the political and social changes in post-colonial Africa.
