“A house like me …”: Casa Malaparte – Mies (09/26/2013)
From 27 to 29 September 2013, Peter Welz will be projecting video sequences of a villa onto Mies van der Rohe’s model golf club house in Krefeld.

“A house like me: sad, hard and severe”, is how the writer Curzio Malaparte described the villa that he had built for himself in Capri. The artist Peter Welz is now combining this villa with the club house designed for Krefeld Golf Club by Mies van der Rohe, a design that never became more than a full-scale model. By projecting several video sequences of the villa onto the walls of the model – including static views from the windows, camera pans and images of a figure moving through the rooms – Peter Welz is juxtaposing the two buildings.
The figure in the room is a central motif in Peter Welz’s work. In exploring the relationship between body and space, he draws inspiration from artists such as Medardo Rosso, Wilhelm Lehmbruck and Eadweard Muybridge.
