As a curator of modern and contemporary art I deal with individual artistic positions as well as broader thematic issues. I am interested in exploring the nature of current artistic positions, placing them in a broader thematic context and thus bringing cultural phenomena up for discussion. I regard the communication of art as just as important as its presentation. For me, artworks possess a significant degree of artistic content when they address topical issues, i.e. they take up and comment upon themes of current artistic, social, cultural and sociopolitical interest. In my curatorial work, therefore, identifying the significance of and interaction between the different artistic disciplines, combining theory and practice in art and art institutions, and transforming institutions devoted solely to exhibiting into sites of education, discourse and communication are important spheres of activity.
