European Film Awards

The European Film Awards ceremony alternates between Berlin and another European city (2004: Barcelona), and are staged by the European Film Academy.
Award categories: Best European film, director, actor, scriptwriter, cinematographer, composer. There is also a "lifetime achievement award," the "European Achievement in World Cinema" prize and the "Discovery Award" for young talent (Prix Fassbinder). Additional prizes are handed out by FIPRESCI (the International Federation of Film Critics), the Arte television broadcasting company (for the best documentary), and the "Screen International" (non-European film).
In the main categories, all academy members submit ballots.
