In addition to the prizes at the major festivals (including world-renowned awards such as the Bear statuettes at the Berlin International Film Festival and the top prizes in Mannheim, Oberhausen and Leipzig), there are numerous other awards and prizes for films. Here we list only the most important ones, including the "Deutscher Filmpreis" , which is perhaps the most important and most richly endowed award for German films. Some of these awards include cash prizes (in some cases earmarked for new projects), or open up access to film funding. Other awards are also open to international entries.
