Biography of Reinhard Kleist

- born in 1970 in Hürth, near Cologne
- studied at the Fachhochschule für Grafik und Design in Münster
- 1996 move to Berlin
- 1998 four-month stay in New York
- 2008 one-month stay in Havana/Cuba, a travel diary emerges
- 2010 birth of daughter Romy
- 2010 winner of the City of Munich’s contest Kunst am Bau (i.e. art in architecture) to benefit the Michaeli Gymnasium (academic high school). Completed in 2012
- 2010-2012 comic seminar instructorship in Erlangen, lives and works in Berlin as a free-lance comic artist

- 1996, Max-und-Moritz prize for the best German-language comic publication
- 2007 Munich Comic Award Peng, for Cash as best German comic
- 2008 Max and Moritz Award for Cash as best German album
- 2008 ICOM Award for The secrets of Coney Island for best artwork
- 2009 Les prix des Ados at the Deauville Literary Festival for Cash - Une vie, the French edition of his Cash comic 2010 Cash nominated for the Eisner Award and Harvey Award
- 2013 B.Z. Cultural Award for outstanding artistic achievement
