Biography of Isabel Kreitz

 Isabel Kreitz
  • born in Hamburg in 1967
  • 1988, started studies at the Hamburger Fachhochschule für Gestaltung
  • 1990, studied at Parsons School of Design in New York
  • worked on Ottifanten newspaper comic strip
  • 1993, first publication of her own work (Heiß und fettig)
  • lives and works in Hamburg
  • 2005 and 2006 Lecturer at the Comic Seminar in Erlangen

Awards and prizes:

  • 1997, Deutscher Comic Preis, International Comic Festival, Hamburg
  • 2002, nomination for the Max-und-Moritz prize

    Comic about the Holocaust

    A comic entitled Die Suche (i.e. The Search) tells the story of a Jewish family murdered by the Nazis in Auschwitz. Much discussed: whether young people can and should be taught about the Holocaust using comics.
