Biography of Ralf König

  • born in Soest, Westphalia in 1960
  • trained and qualified as a cabinet maker
  • 1981-1986, studied "Free Graphics" at the state art-academy in Düsseldorf
  • Today Ralf König lives as freelance author and artist in Cologne

Awards and Prizes:

  • 1988, Joop-Klepzeiker Award
  • 1990, International Comic Prize, Amsterdam
  • 1992, Max-und-Moritz Prize for best German-language comic artist
  • 1992, Best International Comic-Artist, International Comic-Salon Barcelona
  • 1995, Bundesfilmpreis (German film award)
  • 1995, Die goldene Leinwand mit Sternchen for the movie Der bewegte Mann
  • 2004, Prize for best comic-scenario, Comic-Festival Angoulême (for Wie die Karnickel)
