Franziska Becker
  • 1949 born in Mannheim
  • 1971 completes training programme as an assistant in medical technology
  • 1972-76 degree programme at the Karlsruhe Academy of Fine Arts
  • 1973 Political activism in the Heidelberg women’s movement
  • Starting 1977 work as a free-lance cartoonist, illustrator and painter, for the magazines Emma, Psychologie Heute, Titanic, Stern, the daily newspaper Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, and others.
  • She has lived in Cologne since 1985

    Awards and distinctions:

    • 1988 Max and Moritz Award as best German comic artist as “best German comic artist”
    • 2012 Satire award “Göttinger Elch”
    • 2013 Wilhelm Busch Prize
